THE MISCONCEPTION
A common misconception about nonprofit organizations is that they aren't in the business of making revenue. However, to be sustainable as a nonprofit requires both making and investing money. Like all other enterprises, nonprofits need to use their funds to advance their programs/cause.

The difference with nonprofit organizations is that earnings benefit the organization and their charitable cause, versus the owners or shareholders. In fact, the main goal of a nonprofit marketer is to raise money for the mission! So, it makes sense for nonprofits to use the same proven marketing tools as mainstream businesses, including investing in promotional products to get their name and cause out there.
